What will 2022 bring to the IT industry and the world of new technologies?
Every year, the IT industry undergoes transformation. On top of that, the changes forced by the pandemic have caused digitization of business and society to keep accelerating. All trends and industry reports show that further development of the IT sector is inevitable. Which of the current trends will persist, which directions are worth exploring, and which areas are worth investing your time, learning, and development?
Remote Work
Not so long ago, hybrid and home office work models were a relatively rare way of working. Experience has shown, however, that the new mode has many advantages. The IT industry has particularly appreciated this model. The labor market has shifted from local to global. This resulted in a huge increase in demand for IT specialists and simultaneously made it easier for companies to access them.
I have no doubt that this way of working will also dominate in 2022 and in the years to come. IT specialists, more than ever before, have the opportunity to work for companies from around the world, which are increasingly eager to use the services of Polish specialists.
We cannot forget about the dynamic development of tools that will help increase the flow and attractiveness of online meetings.
Microsoft Teams' Together Mode allows gathering meeting participants in a virtual conference room. This makes you feel like you are sitting in the same room as all other participants.
Facebook Quiet Mode – helps users manage time spent in the app. You can easily set a time window during which you want the app to be muted and you won't receive any notifications during that time.
Big Data
Not much is changing in this area. There continues to be high demand for analysts and engineers who will help make sense of the vast amounts of data held by every company and translate them into business benefits. Digitization has taken root in practically every industry. Business owners, sales and/or marketing managers see enormous potential in the data they possess and in how they can use it to build company value, better reach customers, and thereby achieve sales goals. They also understand that data processing automation (knowledge of SQL, Python) and the ability to use data visualization tools are the competencies of the future. Today and in the coming years, Big Data specialists certainly won't complain about a lack of work.
Cyber Security
The number of users of digital products and services is growing day by day. Each user represents a new batch of data to process and/or analyze, information that requires appropriate protection. In every company, customer data is an asset that must be carefully guarded. Therefore, the development of systems and applications with a focus on data security — including multi-factor authentication and access control using additional authorization tools — is one of the key tasks in the area of Cyber Security in 2022.
Metaverse
In simplest terms, the metaverse is a concept of merging the virtual world with the real one; it will allow the creation of one's own virtual worlds and VR games in which players move around as avatars. We will be able to spend time with friends there, playing, having fun, shopping, and working.
What will metaverse technology bring?
Entertainment – VR solutions are most widespread and frequently used here. It is therefore no surprise that the creation of virtual spaces can serve to move additional entertainment sectors into the metaverse space.
Work – the pandemic greatly accelerated the development of remote work. Therefore, in the future the metaverse will perfectly address the creation of a space that enables remote work in conditions similar to on-site work.
Education – the metaverse will positively influence the discovery of the world through the use of virtual spaces. Learning will thus become more interactive and consequently more enjoyable.
Commerce – the way consumer choices are made will certainly change here. In the virtual world, making purchases will be much easier and in the future we will only acquire the things we need in this way.
